THE REST OF THE STORY...
On my way to City Hall this afternoon, 11/9/2015, to
attend the Park and Recreation Board meeting I drove by
the Veterans Memorial Park to just take a look see as I
always do when I am in the area.
I found two City of Wichita trucks parked close to the
Open Air Flag Museum in Veterans Memorial Park. As I
dove past and could not stop because I had to be at the
meeting at 3:00 PM, I saw one of these city workers duck
behind the wall at flag level. I thought it kinda
strange and told my wife something is up. I told her we
would stop by on our way home and see what was going on.
The Park and Recreation board started their meeting at
3:00 PM. The vote did not happen until at least 3:45 PM
(+/-).
As I departed City Hall I stopped by the Veterans
Memorial Park on my way home. I parked and walked up to
the Open Air Flag Museum in Veterans Memorial Park to
see what the city workers had been doing.
The city workers had taken down and removed the large
metal description plaque under the Confederate Battle
Flag flag pole where the Confederate Battle Flag had
flown for over 40 years. Without a complaint or
problem.
Observation - The Park and Recreation board had already
cast their vote... before the meeting had even started.
Someone had to have given the order to remove the
Confederate Battle Flag information metal plaque.
Here is the time line again for November 9, 2015.
My wife and I saw the city workers at the Open Air Flag
Museum at 2:20 PM.
The board convened at 3:00 PM.
The vote was taken at 3:45 PM.
Someone had to have contacted the Wichita Park
Department in order to authorize a work order to take
down and remove the Confederate Battle Flag information
metal plaque. It would be interesting to see the work
order, the date it was issued and by who's authority it
was issued.
To me, this has all the earmarks of a railroad job by a
government agency. A classic example of how big
government operates. No matter how powerful a
presentation, no matter how many factual examples that
were exhibited, the Park and Recreation Board, it
appears, had already made up their mind to cast their
vote to the negative.
It looks like the public is at the mercy of any
government agency. When we vote for someone, we give
them the power to do to us, the public, as they see fit.
And on November 9, 2015 we witnessed a government agency
do just that.
I can not say why the board members did what they did,
but it looks to me like it was POLITICAL CORRECTNESS in
action once again. Herb Duncan

This is where the information plaque was.
