WICHITA, Kansas – About 15 people gathered in Mayor Jeff
Longwell’s office to talk about the Confederate flag in
Wichita Monday.
One local leader of Sunflower Community Action Group was
scheduled to meet with Mayor Jeff Longwell about the
flag, but several others showed up at city hall and
started chanting.
Police officers who work in the city building were
called to the mayor’s office.
Demonstrations are not allowed inside city hall, but no
one was arrested.
Last week, the flag was removed on a temporary basis
until meetings and public discussions can be held to
decide the flag’s fate.

about displaying the Confederate flag at the memorial in
downtown. The meeting with the group is at a private
home in Wichita tonight.
