THE CONFEDERATE VETERAN |
The
Congress of the United States
calls the Confederate soldier
and sailor "VETERANS".
|
Public Law [H. R. 358] 72 Stat. 133
"(e) For the purpose of this section, and section 433,
the term 'veteran'
includes a person
who
served in the military or
naval forces of the
Confederate States of America during the
Civil War,
and the term `active, military or naval service'
includes active service in such forces." |
Not one Confederate soldier or
sailor was ever convicted for
treason. |

WILKESBORO, N.C.—Each month,
Irene Triplett collects $73.13
from the Department of Veterans
Affairs, a pension payment for
her father's military service—in
the Civil War.
More than 3 million men fought
and 530,000 men died in the
conflict between North and
South. Pvt. Mose Triplett joined
the rebels, deserted on the road
to Gettysburg, defected to the
Union and married so late in
life to a woman so young that
their daughter Irene is today 84
years old—and the last child of
any Civil War veteran still on
the VA benefits rolls.
In 1938, on the 75th anniversary
of the Battle of Gettysburg, the
government paid for Civil War
veterans from both the Union and
Confederate soldiers to attend a
reunion on the Pennsylvania
battlefield. Pvt. Triplett was
one of more than 1,800 who went. |

After General Robert E. Lee
surrendered his army, General
Grant allowed Gen. Robert E. Lee
and is officers
to leave with
their arms, mounted on their
battle horse and in full
Confederate uniform. |
|
When General Robert E. Lee left
the building where he had just
surrendered, General Grant of
the Union Army stopped the
Northern troops from cheering.
He said the two sides were no
longer their enemies, and the
best way to show the North’s joy
was not to celebrate the South’s
defeat. |
And yes the cause was wrong but
it ended slavery in America.
We remember the Confederate
Battle Flag because it was used
in combat and not as a racist
symbol.
Man has caused that to happen
because of the flags misuse and
being hijacked by bad people and
associations.
The Confederate Battle Flag has
been used by our military in
every war since the Civil War.
One reason is that the battle
flag represents the REBEL SPIRIT
of the Confederate soldier and
sailor.
And it was that REBEL SPIRIT
that got them through battle
when facing overwhelming odds.
The Civil War happened. It
is part of our American history.
(Take a stand and don't let
others erase and prevent the
next generation the right to
learn from our history.) |
